Are you a runner? Well, so am I and I feel your pain. Whether you’re a beginning runner or you’ve been running Boston for the past ten years, you need someone that can look at your feet objectively and see how you can optimize your running, how you can optimize your gait and prevent injuries. When I get runners into the office, the first thing I like to do is take a look at your feet, see what kind of pathology you might have. What kind of foot do you have? You need a little bit more than someone in the running store who is going to put you up on the treadmill and put a camera on and has had a couple hours of training and is going to decide whether you are an overpronator or an underpronator. It sometimes can be a little bit more complicated than that, although that can be somewhat helpful. I like to look at the feet, I like to have you stand, have you walk, and see how you look, see where you are putting pressure and what we can do to try to relieve some of that pressure, make sure that you’re running in the right shoe and make sure you understand that you need to run in the right shoe or sometimes you need to run in no shoes; that may be good for some people too, believe it or not. So, I would encourage all the runners to come in and we can talk about your running – believe me I love treating runners. I like talking about runners because I like running myself and the last thing I like is downtime and I don’t like downtime for my patients. A lot of the injuries that you may develop we can treat right here in the office and there are a lot of conservative treatments and I am going to make sure that you are getting out to run as soon as possible.
